How often do your meetings seem to get out of control? Why?

Meetings are important for working together and making common decisions. When a meeting is well-managed, it becomes a really useful tool. However, this isn't always the case.
The following examples from my experience illustrate problems that can easily transform a meeting into a waste of time.

The most common problem is weak management. When a quite complicated subject is being discussed or when participants don't want to listen to each other the discussion starts going in circles.

The second problem is inviting to a meeting too many people who are not really required. As a result, some employees can neither work nor be helpful in the meeting. What's more people usually try to do their own business while formally being in the meeting.

The third item on my list is not providing sufficient information to meeting participants before the meeting begins. As a result, an additional meeting is often necessary. Nevertheless, in certain cases, having a dedicated meeting to familiarize participants with the subject is realy beneficial.

Taking these into account, we can conclude that well-organized meetings contribute to business productivity.

-------------
Do you think you'll still need to learn English in 10 years?

Why do we have doubts about the need for learning English in the next 10 years? The answer lies in artificial intelligence (AI) which has taken a gigantic step forward in the last five years and will be one of the main disruptive technologies in the near future.

People learn English for various reasons.
For instance, some individuals learn English to enhance their cognitive abilities. They may not have specific goals.
Taking this into account, advancements in AI do not prevent these individuals from learning English.

Nevertheless, others learn English to communicate with foreigners during travels or for business purposes.
In some of these cases, using AI could make knowledge of any foreign language completely redundant.
For example, written communication with a hotel or business partners can be transparently translated for both sides.

In summary, I believe that the way we use English will change slightly, and some possibilities will be accessible for individuals who can't speak English.
However, the ability to speak foreign languages, including English, will still be valuable.
