Language and national identity are strongly interconnected. The language reflects the content and the features of the views of the members of the nation - values, customs, beliefs, view points, traditions. The language is like a collective thinking of the nation.
The processes of globalization in all areas of life – trading, legislation, culture, politics influence the number of languages spoken in the world.
Many languages and dialects disappear with small nationalities.
Some languages are changed because of the neighborhood with another language.
Learning some languages like English and Chinese seems to be more preferable because they are required for studying in educational institutions or in the information space. Therefore, the languages, that are not needed widespread (small languages) become unnecessary.
These tendencies are not positive because with the loss of language, people can lose their national identity, traditional cuisine, traditions. The preservation of languages is the way to save the cultural diversity and, may be, some nations.
The Lewis model can be used to avoid a communication breakdown between interlocutors from different cultures. According to the possible features and to the possible disparities of the interlocutors a thorough preparation should be carried out before negotiations. To avoid the irritation of being late the negotiators from the linear-active country and from the multi-active country could be invited little earlier before the start when they may be offered tea, water or coffee. For negotiations with counterparts from the linear-active countries should be prepared the profound information and the convincing evidence. For the negotiations with participants from the multi-active countries the agenda must include the defined time for formulating agreements and confirming them in writing. Preparing negotiations with the interlocutors from reactive countries the participants must remember about power-distance, necessity to avoid the straight approach and direct statements and be ready to study how to use indirect and subtle cues to convey messages.]]></submitted_answer>
