Have you ever wondered how much thinner a crane boom could get?

My name is Kamran, and I’m from Nordural steel, Verona based innovative steel producer, and today I want to talk with you about an investment opportunity in our company.

Nowadays our clients’ safety margins increase. At the same time regulators demand from them and their clients to produce trucks with less fuel consumption – Brussels raised its 2030 emissions target for heavy-duty vehicles to a 45% cut against 2019 levels.

Manufacturers cannot get round without lighter and simultaneously stronger components.

Nordural steel’s R&D team came up with a molybdenum-boron chemistry stable enough for series production of HSS. Our new grade S900 has already caught on with early customers. For instance, a trailer manufacturer in Wrocław, Poland, trialled S900 panels on 40 semi-trailers and reported a 380 kg saving per unit — without losing EN 12642 load-rating certification.

Analysts forecast that market for HSS will double in 3-5 years perspective and we are looking for new investments in our plant to produce HSS900 slabs and sheets.

Updated 20260908 - version before AI

Analysts conservative scenario forecast indicates that HSS market will double in 3-5 year perspective and reach 200 kilotons, meaning 15-25% annual growth. Nordural steel has an investment plan to scale its S900 slabs and sheets production. High demand growth and lack of supply increase our market power, and next 5-7 years S900 will definitely be positioned as premium product with relevant pricing.

Updated 20260908 - version with AI

Have you ever wondered how much thinner a crane boom could get before it fails? Three years ago, our engineers asked exactly that — and today I’ll show you why the answer is worth backing.

My name is Kamran, from Nordural Steel — a Verona-based producer that’s spent the last decade solving the same trade-off your portfolio companies live with every day: how to get lighter, safer and more profitable at the same time.

Two trends are colliding in your industry right now. Safety margins keep rising. At the same time, regulators are tightening the screws — the European Commission has confirmed a 45% cut in heavy-duty vehicle emissions against 2019 levels by 2030. Manufacturers can’t meet that target without components that are lighter and stronger at once.

Our R&D team cracked that trade-off: a molybdenum-boron chemistry stable enough for series production. The result, S900, has already caught on — not in our lab, but with a real customer. A trailer manufacturer in Wrocław trialled S900 on 40 semi-trailers and cut 380 kilograms per unit, without losing EN 12642 certification. That’s their own quality audit, not our marketing claim.

The market isn’t waiting either. Independent analysts expect the HSS segment to double within three to five years, to 200 kilotons — 15 to 25% annual growth — and supply isn’t keeping pace. That gap is exactly what we’re scaling to close, and every quarter we wait, ground-floor pricing gets further away.

We’re not asking you to take our word for it. Three European banks have already committed a $150 million credit line against our $200 million plant — third-party underwriting before we’ve asked you for a single euro. That leverage lifts your risk-return ratio three to four times, with an expected IRR of 20 to 25%.

The banks have already said yes. The only open question is your allocation.

My name is Kamran, and I’m from Nordural steel, a Verona based innovative steel producer,
and today <strike>I want to talk with you about an investment opportunity in our company</strike> (= rather weak, redundant introductory statement)
→ and today you will find out why you should invest in our company.

We have observed two contradictory trends in your line of business, but we've found a solution for you.
(= Minto /McKinsey Pyramid approach)
Nowadays our clients’ safety margins increase. At the same time regulators demand from them and their clients to produce trucks with less fuel consumption (indeed) – Brussels raised its 2030 emissions target for heavy-duty vehicles to a 45% cut against 2019 levels.

Manufacturers cannot (= rather formal | can't ← more neutral) <strike>get round</strike> (= phrasal verb with rather informal register) → circumvent | overcome such challenges without lighter and simultaneously (= rather neutral or semi-formal) stronger components.

EITHER
Manufacturers can't get round without both lighter and stronger components. ← spoken

OR
Manufacturers cannot circumvent such challenges without lighter and simultaneously stronger components. ← more formal
= preferred register for an investment pitch

Nordural steel’s R&D team <strike>came up with</strike> (= phrasal verb with rather informal register) → discovered a molybdenum-boron chemistry stable enough for series production of HSS. Our new grade S900 has already caught on with early customers. For instance, a trailer manufacturer in Wrocław, Poland, trialled S900 panels on 40 semi-trailers and reported a 380 kg saving per unit — without losing EN 12642 load-rating certification.

Have you ever wondered how much thinner a crane boom could get?

Analysts forecast that market for HSS will double in 3-5 <strike>years </strike> year perspective and we are looking for new investments in our plant to produce HSS900 slabs and sheets.

<!--
todo: create a listening task to introduce key data about the steel industry

If you don’t work in steel industry or in a purchase department of heavy transport engineering company, you would probably think that steel is a commodity good. Some people know that there are hot-rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled coil (CRC), and coated steel. Meanwhile the reality is much more complex. There are hundreds of steel grades in each of these groups.

Let’s focus on HRC as the most widely used type. Main differentiating property of a given steel is its yield strength (YS). YS is a load when the metal starts to bend and is measured in mega-pascals (MPa). The most promising steel grades are the ones with YS above 500MPa. Their key advantage is that they allow to increase the hardness of car elements or that of other vehicles without increasing their weight or even decreasing it.

These characteristics are obtained through time-consuming R&D process when material scientist experiment with different chemical content of “iron bouillon” and with various steel rolling modes. Recently steel plants achieved fantastic characteristics: YS above 1000 MPa which called ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS).

R&D costs, expensive chemical additions (such as molybdenum which costs 100 k USD per ton) and new equipment lead to premium pricing policy: HSS is twice more expensive than low-strength steel, UHSS may be even 10 times more expensive.

Such steel grades are primarily used in constructing critical elements of heavy transport subject to high and intense load as well as in safety elements of passenger cars. These innovations helps to save millions of lives every year.

<article_title>NORDURAL STEEL LAUNCHES X1200</article_title>

<date>20260730</date>
<published_by></published_by>

<column>NORDURAL STEEL LAUNCHES X1200: A NEW ULTRA-HIGH-STRENGTH GRADE THAT LETS ENGINEERS DO MORE WITH LESS

Yield strength above 1200 MPa cuts vehicle weight without cutting safety margins — the market has already been lining up for S900.
</column>
<column>Verona, Italy, 30 July 2026 — Have you ever wondered how much thinner a crane boom or a truck chassis could be before it simply gave way? Nordural Steel believes it has found the answer. Today the company moves into full commercial production of X1200, a new ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS) grade with a guaranteed yield strength above 1200 MPa.
</column>
<column>The headline figure: engineers switching from standard S355 plate to X1200 can go about redesigning load-bearing structures with up to 30% less material, shedding dead weight while holding or even increasing safety margins. That single fact reshapes the economics of heavy transport engineering — less steel per tonne of payload means lower fuel consumption, and lower fuel consumption is exactly what regulators are demanding. Brussels raised its 2030 emissions target for heavy-duty vehicles to a 45% cut against 2019 levels — a target manufacturers cannot get round without lighter, stronger components.
</column>
<column>Nordural spent three years trying out alloy combinations and rolling-mill settings before its metallurgists came up with a molybdenum-boron chemistry stable enough for series production — and one that has already caught on with early customers. “Every fleet operator we’ve spoken to is getting into light-weighting — because the regulation leaves no alternative — or increasing loads with simultaneous decrease of equipment failure frequency.” said Elena Voskresenskaya, Nordural’s Head of R&D. “Customers who read up on our pilot data reach the same conclusion we did.”
</column>
<column>Early adopters back the claim. A trailer manufacturer in Wrocław, Poland, trialled X1200 panels on 40 semi-trailers and reported a 380 kg saving per unit — without losing EN 12642 load-rating certification.
</column>
<column>X1200 costs roughly three times more per tonne than standard hot-rolled coil, a premium Nordural defends on total-cost-of-ownership grounds rather than sticker price. Allocation for Q4 2026 is capped at 15,000 tonnes, and Nordural is prioritising customers who commit before September.
</column>
<column>Nobody dreamt up X1200 overnight. But few products have arrived at a better moment.

eureka /juəˈri:kə/ = I have found it! (announcing a discovery etc.)
against the grain (to go ~) = contrary to the natural inclination or feeling of someone or something
bipolar disorder = mental illness characterized by the alternation of manic and depressive states; depression is the more common symptom, and many patients experience only a brief period of overoptimism and mild euphoria during the manic phase
disinhibition (aka behavioural disinhibition) = medically recognized as an orientation towards immediate gratification, leading to impulsive behaviour driven by current thoughts, feelings, and external stimuli, without regard for past learning or consideration for future consequences. It is one of five pathological personality trait domains in certain psychiatric disorders. In psychology, it is defined as a lack of restraint manifested in disregard of social conventions, impulsivity, and poor risk assessment
schizophrenia /ˌskɪtsəuˈfri:njə/ = mental disease marked by a breakdown in the relation between thoughts, feelings, and actions, frequently accompanied by delusions and retreat from social life
dopamine /'dɔpə,main/ = central nervous system neurotransmitter essential to control of motion; it also acts as a hormone. Degeneration of certain dopamine-producing brain cells results in parkinsonism; often called the "happy hormone," dopamine results in feelings of well-being. A primary driver of the brain's reward system, it spikes when we experience something pleasurable
thalamus /'θæləməs/ = either of two masses of grey matter in the forebrain, serving as relay stations for sensory tracts
on the back burner = when something is temporarily not being dealt with or considered, especially because it is not urgent or important
27 Club = informal list consisting mostly of popular musicians, often expanded by artists, actors, and other celebrities who died at age 27. Although the claim of a "statistical spike" for the death of musicians at that age has been refuted by scientific research, it remains a common cultural conception that the phenomenon exists, with many celebrities who die at 27 noted for their high-risk lifestyles

Have ever thought how strong is steel?

Executive summary:

3 groups of steel strength: low-strength steel, high-strength steel (HSS), ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS).
Key measure of strength: yield strength. HSS – between 500MPa and 1000 MPa, UHSS – 1000 MPa and above.
Main fields of use for HSS: heavy transport engineering (truck cranes, cargo trailers); for UHSS: cranes with high load capacity, modern passenger cars.
Primary use: critical elements subject to high and intense load, safety elements.
Production process: requires R&D and modern steel plant equipment.

NORDURAL STEEL LAUNCHES X1200: A NEW ULTRA-HIGH-STRENGTH GRADE THAT LETS ENGINEERS DO MORE WITH LESS

Yield strength above 1200 MPa cuts vehicle weight without cutting safety margins — and the market is already lining up

CHELYABINSK, Russia, 30 July 2026 — Have you ever wondered how much thinner a crane boom or a truck chassis could be before it simply gave way? Nordural Steel believes it has found the answer. Today the company moves into full commercial production of X1200, a new ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS) grade with a guaranteed yield strength above 1200 MPa.

The headline figure: engineers switching from standard S355 plate to X1200 can go about redesigning load-bearing structures with up to 30% less material, shedding dead weight while holding the same safety margin.

Nordural spent three years trying out alloy combinations and rolling-mill settings before its metallurgists came up with a molybdenum-boron chemistry stable enough for series production — and one that has already caught on with early customers. “Every fleet operator we’ve spoken to is getting into lightweighting because the regulation leaves no alternative,” said Elena Voskresenskaya, Nordural’s Head of R&D. “Customers who read up on our pilot data reach the same conclusion we did.”

Early adopters back the claim. A trailer manufacturer in Wrocław, Poland, trialled X1200 panels on 40 semi-trailers and reported a 380 kg saving per unit — without losing EN 12642 load-rating certification.

X1200 costs roughly three times more per tonne than standard hot-rolled coil, a premium Nordural defends on total-cost-of-ownership grounds rather than sticker price. Allocation for Q4 2026 is capped at 15,000 tonnes, and Nordural is prioritising customers who commit before September.

Nobody dreamt up X1200 overnight. But few products have arrived at a better moment.
