Vadim has extensive experience in learning English, including living in the USA and taking courses there. Currently, his level is B2.
His main goal is to achieve fluency, but his biggest challenge is comprehension. Despite listening frequently and watching a large number of videos, he still lacks confidence.
Another issue is his tendency to directly translate Russian constructions into English. He struggles to believe that native speakers actually use certain expressions that sound unnatural to him. For example:
✔️Collocations (e.g., "commit a crime" was surprising to him, as he associates "commit" more with IT terminology).
✔️Phrasal verbs (e.g., "get rid of," "put up with"—which he usually avoids).
✔️Idioms (which he tends to avoid entirely).
What he truly needs is to become a confident participant in business negotiations and engage in authentic conversations. He attends international conferences, forums, and gives interviews, so fluency is his top priority.
